Embraer announced the certification of the Phenom 300EV, the world’s first light jet equipped with the Garmin Emergency Autoland system, which enables the aircraft to land automatically if the pilot is incapacitated. The jet stands out as the fastest and longest-range aircraft in its category.
Technical details and certifications
The Phenom 300EV reaches a top speed of Mach 0.80, about 980 km/h, and has a range of up to 3,806 kilometers with four passengers on board, in compliance with the fuel reserves required by US business aviation. The aircraft has been certified by Brazil’s National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC), the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).
The Emergency Autoland system can take full control of the aircraft to perform a safe landing without the need for human intervention, intended for situations in which the pilot becomes incapacitated. The Phenom 300EV is the largest business jet equipped with this technology.
Innovations in technology and connectivity
To allow electronic controls to manage functions such as automatic braking and rudder steering, Embraer developed a new electronic controller. This solution also helps reduce pilots’ operational workload and makes maintenance easier.
The extended range enables long nonstop regional flights, such as the São Paulo-Manaus route, according to the manufacturer. Cargo capacity was also increased and the cabin was improved, now offering high-speed connectivity via low-orbit satellites.
Among the connectivity options, the Gogo Galileo service, an advanced low-latency satellite internet system, can be factory-installed. Starlink access, meanwhile, will be available as an aftermarket option.
Deliveries and outlook
Embraer expects to begin deliveries of the Phenom 300EV starting in 2028, expanding its offering in the light jet segment with advanced technology and enhanced safety.
